A few of my favourite tools

I love the process of bookbinding, and a big part of that is using tools. I like them all really, but here are a few of my favourites.

1. Pin vice

This handy tool turns any bookbinding needle into an awl, making it easy to punch holes of exactly the right size for sewing your book.

I got my pin vice from the London Centre for Book Arts.

2. Teflon folder

I really like traditional bone folders too, but the advantage of this teflon folder is that it does not create burnishing marks on the paper.

My teflon folder is from the London Centre for Book Arts.

3. Embosser

Not technically a bookbinding tool, but I recently invested in this embosser to brand my work. It is such a satisfying tool to use and adds the perfect, discreet logo to my notebooks and journals.

My embosser is from Stampit.
